Two members of the West Memphis Police Department are off duty after being relieved of duty. WMPD command took the badges and service weapons from Major Stacy Allen and Lt. Charles Burch on Sept. 16 while a complaint against the pair is investigated.
The suspended pair were scheduled off for at least two weeks pending the disposition of a complaint lodged with the city’s Human Resources Department. The next morning Police Chief Eddie West confirmed Allen and Burch were off duty, but did not yet know the basis of the complaint.
West later commented, 'They were relieved of duty pending a human resource investigation.'
West declined to comment further.
'I do not know the nature of the complaint,” said the chief. “I have not seen it yet. The police department does not comment and will not comment on ongoing investigations.'
