I appreciated Mr. Clayton Adams ….

I appreciated Mr. Clayton Adams letter to the editor in today’s online paper and like him I don’t really know where most of the candidates in the local races stand so it is not always easy to decide who to vote for. It is probably too late to get something done for this election but maybe in the future the Times could do some kind of candidate profile for each candidate so that voters would be better informed?

[ Editor’s Note: Mr. Adams occasionally does something outside of his usual weekly column and I always enjoy reading it. As for your other idea, I would love to be able to do a little write- up for each candidate in the local races but there are literally dozens of them once you factor in state, county and municipal races, and we simply don’t have the manpower to track all of those candidates down, get their information and condense it down into a printable format. We do, however, welcome any candidate for any office to announce his or her candidacy in the paper and, of course, they or their supporters are welcome to purchase ad space to promote their candidacy. It used to be a very common thing that, for better or for worse, social media has kind of taken over.

I will say, when it comes to the upcoming races, you can probably go by the little ( D) or ( R) to get a general idea of what each candidate stands for, and in the nonpartisan municipal races, I highly rec-ommend attending your local city’s city council meetings to get an idea of what the incumbent elected officials do]

*** I see they are moving forward on the new I-55 bridge. Any chance that once they finish it they might start on the bridge on Rich Road by Walmart?

[ Editor’s Note: I honestly can not tell if you’re being sarcastic or not, which I very much appreciate… but it will be at least 20 years to get that new bridge done. Surely, the powers that be can fix the Rich Road bridge by then… right?]
