Hogs picked to finish 4th in SEC, Davis and Aidoo honored

FAYETTEVILLE – The Associated Press and the SEC announced their preseason polls for the 2024-25 basketball season today and the Razorbacks are 16th in the AP poll and picked to finish fourth by SEC media. The SEC additionally announced its preseason All-SEC teams with Jonas Aidoo and Johnell Davis being tabbed preseason second team All-SEC by the league’s media.

Among the teams on the Razorback schedule in the AP poll are #1 Kansas (charity exhibition), #2 Alabama, #8 Baylor. #11 Auburn. #12 Tennessee, #13 Texas A& M. #19 Texas, #21 Florida, #23 Kentucky and #24 Ole Miss with the following receiving votes Illinois (#26), Michigan (#34), Miami (#38), Mississippi State (#43) and Little Rock (#49).

Last season, Aidoo was:

• 2024 NABC Second Team All-District

• 2024 First Team All-SEC (AP)

• Second Team All-SEC (Coaches)

• 2024 SEC All-Defensive Team

• 2022-23 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll

• 2021-22 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll Aidoo was just the fifth player from Tennessee to be named to the SEC All-Defensive team and was one of two Volunteers to start all 36 games last season. He ranked third in the SEC in blocked shots

(1.83 avg. and 66 total), fourth in rebounds per game

(7.3), fourth in total rebounds

(263) and fourth in offensive rebounds per game (2.78).

Last season, Davis was:

• 2024 NABC All-District 24 first team

• 2024 AAC co-Player of the Year

• 2024 All-AAC first team (unanimous)

• 2023 NABC All-District 17 first team

• 2023 Conference USA Sixth Player of the Year

• 2022-23 All-C-USA first team

• 2023 C-USA All-Tournament Team Davis was a 2023-24 top 10 finalist for the Jerry West Award as well as a top 20 finalist for the Wooden Award.

In the AAC, he ranked among the top 15 in free throw percentage (2nd, 85.7%); scoring

(4th, 18.2 avg.); field goal percentage (4th, 48.3%); defensive rebounds (9th, 4.88 avg.); rebounding (11th, 6.3 avg.); steals (12th, 1.44); assists (13th, 100 total) and double-doubles (13th, 3). The previous year, Davis played a key role in Florida Atlantic reaching the Final Four.
