Here’s what everyone is talking about this week:
I’m so disappointed in my community. I can not believe the people who are still going out and living their lives like nothing is going on. Such a shame that these people who I think of as my family and friends don’t care who gets the virus and who gets sick and who might die! What if it was your mother or father or child or what if it was you that was sick? Maybe you would care then. The WM mayor said it best for those hard headed individuals who don’t understand the right thing to do and mistake the mayor’s kindness for weakness… Stay your @$$ at Home!
[ Editor’s Note: You know, if you read the e- edition yesterday that I not only quoted Mayor McClendon on his remarks to those who continue to ignore COVID- 19 protocols and guidelines, I chose not to censor his three- lettered four- letter word, in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, the message would sink in for those who don’t wear masks, don’t wash their hands, don’t practice social distancing and ignore the curfew and other guidelines the CDC and the government have in place. I certainly don’t want to offend anyone, but if using the word “ ass” can save just one person from getting sick, then I’m OK with that]
*** I got my stimulus check, which I am thankful for, but I thought we were supposed to get $500 for each child. I only got $500 but I have four children. What do I do? [ Editor’s Note: Well, the first thing you need to know is that you only receive the $ 500 per child for children you claimed on your tax return and even then, only if they were 17 or younger. For example, I have two kids in college, who I still claim on my taxes but did not receive any stimulus money for. Another thing to consider is whether or not someone else can claim them on their taxes, like an ex- husband or exwife. Each child can only be “ used” to get the stimulus money one time.
While I applaud the government for rolling out the money quickly when people are in dire financial need, it has apparently been a less- than- perfect process in the early going]
