James “Nuncky” Hood
James “Nuncky” Hood, 56, of Hughes, Arkansas, passed away suddenly at his family’s home in Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020. Nuncky is survived by his loving wife, Angie Hood of Hughes; his children Candice Morgan
Ward (Jason), and Hunter Hood (Natalie Myers). He also leaves behind six grandsons, Cannon, Cross, and Case Morgan, Aiden Glover, Owen Ward, and Prentiss Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby G. Hood and Dianne Brewer Hood. He leaves behind a large extended family and even larger community of friends. Nuncky was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his wife and children with everything he had and is cherished by them.
Nuncky was one of a kind. If you spent any amount of time around him, you probably spent it in laughter or holding on for dear life. He could tell a story like no other. In fact, his stories were so good, he made you believe most of them. He loved a good tall tale and would have you hanging on every word. Nuncky was quite the jokester and lived off a good thrill. Even at 56, he would come barreling down the pier unannounced and go straight off the end into a front flip. Leaving you soaked and him in belly-shaking laughter. His laugh was contagious.
Nuncky was an avid hunter and shared that love with his family. If you wanted to see him from October to January, you better head to the deer woods. Hunting was just a small part of the fun at deer camp. He loved spending time on top of the Mountain with his family, watching old reruns and eating junk food and if you actually got up to go hunting, you better hope you killed your deer in one shot or the trash talk was really about to start.
Many will remember Nuncky as a fun-loving classmate, one heck of a football player, and the best friend you could ever ask for. He would give you the shirt off his back even if you didn’t deserve it. He had a heart of gold and his family and friends will be lost without him. They broke the mold when they made Nuncky. We are grateful he was ours and will live out the rest of our days with him in our hearts.
The family would like to invite anyone that knew and loved Nuncky to a celebration of his life on Sunday Feb.
