The West Memphis School District is requesting a Tax Levy of 36.5. This is an increase of 7.5 from the rate presently being levied.

to 4:30 p.m. Election Day is Sept. 10, 2019 and will be at the following locations from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Bragg Elementary, Faulk Elementary, Maddux Elementary, Richland Elementary, Weaver Elementary, Jackson-Wonder Elementary, East Junior High, West Junior High, Wonder Junior High, and West Memphis High School in West Memphis, and Bond’s Marine Store, in Hughes.

• Global Academy USDA Food Program — Global Academy, Inc., located at 301 N. 7th St., in West Memphis, is participating in the USDA Food Program. Meals will be available at no charge or at a reduced rate to enrolled persons at the above location.

• Bethel AME Community Grant Program — Larry Banks, pastor of the Bethel AME Church, 2304 E. Barton Ave., was recently awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant for the 2019-2020 school year by the U.S. Department of Education. Applications are now being accepted

of 100 students to participate in the program that will be held at Maddux Elementary School, 2100 E. Barton Ave.

Once the 100 positions are filled, all others will be placed on a standby list. Applications for children in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 may be picked up at Bethel AME Church or at Maddux Elementary School during back to school registration. • B.O.W. Free Day of Dance — The Ballet On Wheels Dance School & Company is putting together a free day of dance, Saturday, Sept. 7, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 1015 S.

Classes will include Creative Movement Dance Experience for children ages 3-6; Kids Hip Hop for children ages 4-7, which offers more movement and dance spunk with exciting dance moves to age-appropriate hip hop music. • Community Prayer —

Community of Prayer Service (COPS) will be holding a prayer service Thursday, Sept. 12 at Grace Baptist Church, 1399 Missouri St., West Memphis, beginning at 7 p.m. The service is being held “in the wake of increased crime and drug issues.” Everyone is welcome to attend.

• Crittenden County Health Unit — The Crittenden County Health Unit will have special extended hours every Tuesday from 8 a.m.

until 6 p.m. These adjusted hours give the unit the opportunity to stay open later to accommodate those who are not able to come during normal business hours. Clinical services that are available include: Women, Infants & Children (WIC), nutrition counseling and support, birth control pick-ups, Depo shots, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and services, and immunizations. • Mass Flu Clinics — The Crittenden County Health Department will be having a mass flu clinic Tuesday, Sept.

24, from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Insured participants are asked to bring their insurance cards.

For those individuals who do not have insurance coverage, there will be no charge. A second flu clinic will be held in Marion Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., at the Marion First Baptist Church.
