Sports Editor Last Friday night was kind to the West Memphis Christian varsity hoops teams.
In the opener, the Lady Knights won their first game of the season, upending Delta Academy in overtime 35-31.
The varsity boys won their 11th straight game by topping Delta 72-33.
The Lady Knights trailed until late in the contest until senior Lauren Pike hit a three-pointer to tie the game and force the extra session.
The triple was necessary as Delta held the ball during most of the second half.
Bailey Felts led West Memphis Christian with 16 points, Andrea Beyer added 6 points, Akilah Williams poured in 5, Ashley Beyer checked in with 4 and Pikeʼs 3 rounded out the scoring for the Lady Black Knights.
The Black Knights continued to roll into district play by overwhelming their league rival at home.

The Black Knights (18-2 overall) boast a pair of wins against defending Class 3A state champion Magnolia Heights during their winning streak and have not lost since late November.
West Memphis Christian will put its winning streak on the line on Tuesday night when they host perennial district power Marshall Academy.
The West Memphis Christian-Marshall rivalry has been a hot one over the years. The Black Knights were 2-2 against the Patriots in 2014, beating Marshall at home and for the district tournament title before losing the North State championship game with West Memphis Christian leading scorer Glen Burns suspended for the contest. The Patriots swept the season series last season.
The varsity girls game against Marshall Academy will tip at approximately 6 p.m.
