DeltaARTS’ Crittenden Youth Theatre brought holiday magic to life with their three-day, sold-out run of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Musical this past weekend. The performances, held at DeltaARTS, showcased the talents of 36 cast members aged 6 to 18, creating a spectacular production that delighted audiences of all ages.
“All three performances sold out. We even had to add extra chairs!” said Renee Rainey, a member of DeltaARTS. “The kids worked really hard, rehearsing for months, three times a week, two hours a day. It was really phenomenal.”
The beloved musical, based on the 1964 Rankin & Bass animated special, celebrates its 60th anniversary this December. The timeless story of Rudolph’s journey to self-acceptance was brought to the stage under the creative leadership of a dedicated production team:
■ ■ Producer: Amber Meserve
■ ■ Director/Choreographer: Emma Crystal
■ ■ Music and Vocal Director: Donia Wade
■ ■
Stage Managers: Sydnei Sutton and Siddalee Weaver
■ ■ Lighting: Ruthie Elliott In addition to the talented cast and crew, the production relied on the efforts of committed parents who designed and built sets, created costumes, prepared a Christmas parade float, and helped manage the lively ensemble of reindeer and elves. Rainey praised the camaraderie among the cast, particularly the mentorship shown by the older performers. “The older kids really took the younger ones under their wings. Everyone worked together so beautifully.”
The cast’s months of dedication were evident in their polished performances, which combined energetic choreography, memorable music, and heartfelt storytelling. Rainey added, “The joy and excitement in the theater were incredible. This group poured their hearts into the show.”
The kids practiced for months and hours on end three times a week.

It was said many of the older teens took the younger kids under their wings and helped them during rehearsals.
