Marion senior left tackle and Louisiana State signee Carius Curne added one more accolade to an already lengthy list on Monday night.

Curne earned the coveted Farm Bureau Insurance Awards Offensive Lineman of the Year award, edging out Benton’s Isaiah Gipson and Bentonville’s John Brandenburg.

He’s just the second winner of the award since it was added to the festivities in time for the 2023 show. Shiloh Christian’s Jonas Nantze earned last year’s award.

The award is given out by the veteran Hooten’s Arkansas Football staff, which researches and compiles the nation’s largest, most comprehensive high school football preview every summer, and covers individual classifications during the football season.

Curne caps his stellar Marion career with two allstate selections, an all-conference nod, the Farm Bureau Insurance Offensive Lineman of the Year, the 6A Outstanding Offensive Lineman, with the potential of being named a AAA All-Star and the Gatorade Player of the Year at a later date.

The LSU signee set the Marion school record with 150 pancake blocks in his career.

He graded out at 83 percent with 42 pancakes as a junior before earning a 91 percent grade with 94 pancakes as a senior.

Curne intends to enroll in January at LSU to be available for spring practice.
