Four years later…

Four years ago today (as you read this) I was sitting up in bed watching the 2020 election results grinding on and on. I, like you, wen to sleep that night not knowing who the winner was.
Unlike some of you, I readily accepted the results once they were announced in the following days.
That election, if it wasn’t already clear, showed just how divided we really are as a nation..
No, that wasn’t really breaking news in November 2020, and it’s still not four years later. But it was sad to see it play out just how deep that division goes. We got claims of voter fraud, stolen elections and even a storming of the Capitol in the weeks following that elevtion. Pituful.
It wasn’t always that way was it? I’m not delusional am I when I say we weren’t this “us vs. them” say 24 years ago, were we?

claim — without any merit whatsoever — that the 2020 election was stolen, those same folks are already lining up their conspiracy theories just in case things don’t go their way.
But we have to trust the system. It has worked for 250 years and it’s the only one we’ve got… and I will continue my argument that the GOP is giving way too much credit to the Democrats when they claim they were organized enough to actually rig an election.
It’s definitely going to be close either way, and the result will be historic either way. We’ll either have our first female president or we’ll have a former president regain the White House for only the second time ever.
No matter what the polls tell us on Nov. 4, when it really comes to the count, one canidata is going to win and one candidate is going to lose and half the country is going to be disappointed.
Let’s hope, either way, we can put our differences aside and work together for all Americans.
Yeah, right…
