The recent death of Michael ….
The recent death of Michael Mosley brought attention to his works and the need to change our habits. The removal of sugar would be a good start and these approaches should be supported and publicized. [ Editor’s Note: Not gonna lie, I had to look up who Michael Mosley was. Turns out he was a TV show producer and journalist for BBC. More relevant to this message, though, is that he was also credited with popularising a form of intermittent fasting called the “ 5: 2 diet” through an episode of the BBC documentary series Horizon called ' Eat, Fast and Live Longer,' which I read the first time without the comma and couldn’t figure out why eating fast was a good idea…
Anyway, the “ 5: 2 diet” does not follow a particular food pattern, but instead focuses entirely on calorie content.
Mosley later advocated The Fast 800 Keto Diet, a lowcarbohydrate Mediterranean diet with intermittent fasting that follows a daily 800- calorie eating plan. The Fast 800 Keto, in case you’re wondering, advises a three- stage diet plan for weight loss: stage 1, a very low- carbohydrate ketogenic diet; stage 2, a reintroduction of carbohydrates with intermittent fasting; stage 3, a low- carbohydrate Mediterranean diet. I found a review of the plan online and Red Pen Reviews gave Mosley's book The Fast 800 Keto a score of 58% for scientific accuracy, but concluded that the diet ' should cause weight loss and improve health in most people who have extra weight and/ or type 2 diabetes, but some aspects of the diet may be unnecessary and make it harder to follow.' In case you’re wondering, Mosley died on June 5 at age 67 while on a hike. There, I feel like I have done my part to “ support and publicize” this idea… now, if you’ll excuse me, there’s a sleeve of Chip’s Ahoy chocolate chip cookies calling my name.]
