Arkansas State Trooper Matthew West was involved in a high-speed pursuit on Friday, April 5th, when he observed a passenger car traveling east from Earle and Crittenden County at over 100 mph on U.S. 64 at the intersection of State Highway 75 at approximately 8:20p.m. West activated his rear radar and confirmed that the vehicle was traveling at 105 mph in a 55mph speed zone. He then attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, which had out-of-state tags, but the driver initially appeared to comply before accelerating again.

The pursuit continued with the suspect’s speed reaching triple digits as they passed through Anchor Inn and forced a vehicle off the road. As they approached Levesque, West attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver. However, the suspect applied their brakes, causing West’s patrol car to collide

with the suspect’s vehicle. Despite sustaining damage to his patrol car was well as the suspect vehicle’s taillights, West continued the pursuit, notifying Cross County of the ongoing chase.

As the pursuit entered the City of Wynne and Friday night traffic, city and county units worked together to block major intersections in an attempt to prevent accidents. Despite multiple roadblock attempts, the suspect continued to evade authorities and accelerate through the city. With an open opportunity before reaching the Languille river basin, West successfully executed a TVI maneuver, bringing the suspect’s vehicle to a halt.

The suspect then leap from his vehicle and charged several officers who had immediately arrived in the scene. West intervened, using a grappling technique to restrain and handcuff the driver, who was later identified as Adam Walker, a 35-year-old white male with a Florida ID card. Walker continued to resist arrest and behave aggressively, leading to multiple charges being filed against him.

There were at least two more unidentified female adult passengers who remained in the vehicle after the TVI, but it is unknown if they were also taken into custody.

Walker faces charges including fleeing, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, speeding, reckless driving, careless/prohibited driving, improper passing on the left, and multiple other traffic violations.

It took two officers from the city of Wynne and a State Trooper to take down the suspect who initially charged at them.
