ASU Mid-South traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas to face off against the Shorter Bulldogs. A game that got off to a quick start continued throughout as the Greyhounds found themselves back in the win column defeating the Bulldogs 82-65. “One of the things that made me happier than anything, was watching our guys just play and have fun doing so. It felt like we lost that for a little while, and they just came out relaxed and played basketball. Defensively we need to clean some things up especially not giving the other team multiple offensive rebounds. We also missed numerous shots right at the goal which could come back to haunt you in closer games. If we clean those things up, I feel like we can find out stride right at the perfect time heading into the final stretch of region play into the region tournament.

We’ll enjoy the win tonight, and get right back to it tomorrow to get ready for ASU Newport Thursday.” Head coach Cody Hastings had to say after the game.

It didn’t take long for both teams to find their groove as both teams would hit double figures in the first 4 minuntes of the game. The Greyhounds defense would soon start to slow the Bulldogs down as

they would only give up 22 points for the remainder of the half, while the offense would keep exploding led by 3 players scoring in double figures in the first half. The trio of Washington (14), Westbrook (12), and Wallace (10) would outscore the Bulldogs 36-32 in the first half. Although the Greyhounds found themselves settling and not executing for a stretch in the first half, their defense would keep them with a double digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Westbrook would pick up right where he left off in the first half and any time the Greyhounds needed a bucket late, he was the guy who gave it to them. Westbrook would have 16 second half points, no one else scored more than 5.

The Greyhounds would continue their cold stretch in the 2nd half letting the Bulldogs cut a 19 point lead to 10, before Westbrook got right back to work. The defense would then tighten up which gave the offense opportunities to get out and run earning multiple trips to the free throw line. Je’Marion Westbrook led the Greyhounds with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Jesse Washington followed up with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Darren Wallace ended with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Samuel Chapin pitched in 5 points but to go along with 8 rebounds. Dock finished with 9 points and 6 assists.
