“Come one, come all to the greatest library of all!”

If that pitch has a little bit of a Ringling Brothers’ Barnum & Bailey flavor to it, that’s no accident.

The Woolfolk Public Library in Marion is bringing back its popular summer reading program once again this year, with a bigtop circus theme surrounding this summer’s slate of fun and exciting familyfriendly events.

Sign-ups for the 2023 summer reading program have just begun, but the important thing to remember is that due to limited space, pre-registration is required for most events and activities.

The summer progam kicks off on Tuesday, June 6, with a day of face painting, arts & crafts and the signup for the Read for Rewards reading challenge. It’s open to kids of all ages and begins at 10 a.m.

The circus-like atmosphere really kicks into high gear on Tuesday, June 13, with a meet and greet featuring a gaggle of furry and feathered friends from the Little Rock Zoo’s travelling animal show, at 1 p.m.

If you’re more of a friend to flowers, don’t miss the Botanic Gardens show and tell on Thursday, June 15, along with a special treat of gummies and ice cream.

There are two shows for the day. The 10 a.m. show is for kids ages 2-7, and the 11 a.m. show is for kids ages 8-12. Space is limited to 30 kids per show, so don’t delay, sign up today!

The Dixon Art Gallery will have a panel of artists at the library on Tuesday, June 20 for a special artistic experience. Again the younger kids will have their class at 10 a.m., with the older kids again at 11 a.m.

On Wednesday, June 21, it’s another zoo crew, as Animology comes to town at 1 p.m., and the library

wraps up June with Magic Mr. Nick and his magic show on Tuesday, June 27 with an all-ages show beginning at 10 a.m.

When the calendar rolls over into July, the fun continues with Story Time, a series of all ages events beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, Thursday, July 13, Tuesday, July 18, and Thursday, July 20.

The July 13 gathering will feature “Bubble Fun,” while the July 20 story time will be highlighted by fun with water balloons.

The Summer Reading Program climaxes with the Read for Rewards Foam Party (for those who complete the program), on Saturday, July 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

All events require pre-registration, so contact the Woolfolk Public Library to sign up. Call (870) 7393238 or stop by the library, 100 N. Currie St. (behind the historic Marion Gymnasium), to get in on the fun this summer.
