McClendon proclaims Black Knights Day in recognition of WMCA boys basketball team

Mayor Marco McClendon recently recognized the success of the West Memphis Christian Academy basketball team presenting the team with a plaque and with the following proclamation after their successful basketball campaign over the course of the 2022-23 season: “Whereas the Mayor of West Memphis, Arkansas congratulated the West Memphis Christian School under the leadership of Headmaster Darren Anderson and Athletic Director Mary Rose competes within the Mid-South Association of independent Schools and is classi_ed as a 2A and moving up to a 3A for the 2023 and 2023 academic year. West Memphis Christian Black Knights boys under the direction of Head Coach Daniel Bandy and Assistant Coach Tim Bates and has been victorious in winning the 2023 MAIS Class 2 State Championship. West Memphis Christian School Black Knights have won the most games in school history _nishing with a record of 33 wins and 6 losses. The Black Knights received several awards including the team’s Player of the Year Tyrion Sanders, Coach of the Year Daniel Bandy, All Star selection Ish Watkins and All Tournament team consisting of Amari Foreman, Tim Bates III, Ontarius Odum and Tom Walton. The Mayor of West Memphis would like to give personal recognition to the Black Knights basketball team;

The coach and team were on hand at City Hall to receive a copy of the proclamation from the mayor.
