The school shootings that seem to occur almost on a weekly basis now are certainly tragic but it should not mean knee-jerk gun control laws. Those laws have time and time again proven to be ineffective in curbing gun violence.

Remember, a stone in the hands of Cain led to the murder of Abel, but a stone in the sling of David led to the defeat of Goliath. It’s not the weapon it’s the user and the intent!

Note: I suppose that is a more spiritual- minded version of “ The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” I’ve said it multiple times, but I’ll say it again…

I have nothing against the private ownership of guns and the principles of the 2nd Amendment, but clearly we are not doing something right in this country when it comes to keeping deadly weapons out of the hands of people who should not have deadly weapons. Whether it’s additional legislation, stronger background checks, being better at limiting access to guns “ on demand” without some kind of vetting or a real crackdown on the kinds of firearms private citizens can own, somewhere between “ ban all the guns” and “ the wild, wild west,” there has got to be some common ground and some common sense on this issue, right… right?]
