[ Editor’s Note: As someone who lived just one street over

Something has GOT to be done about the flooding in Marion north of the high school! I have lived in my home for 20 years and we have had flooding issues the entire time! The only thing they have done is put that “ditch” across Colonial and I guess that was supposed to solve it? Time for a real solution not a half@$$ bandaid!

from Colonial for nearly 20 years, I can confirm it has been an issue for at least that long. I actually have some photos of a flood in 2008 that we went out and waded in with the kids ( yes, I know… yuck! Don’t judge me!). And folks actually had their boats out, navigating up and down L. P.

Mann and Judge Smith Drive, that’s how deep it was. And back in 2002, my car got flooded when I stupidly tried to make it down Colonial Drive after work one night. I have to say, I don’t know if there IS a long- term solution. When that much water falls, it has to go somewhere, and the low ground is where it goes. I don’t know if pumps or ditches or some kind of overflow pond or what might work but I definitely hear you and hope you’re able to get all dried out… once again]
