How does the West Memphis city council not have anything better to do than trying to keep young people from playing basketball outside their own homes? It isn’t bad enough that there is NOTHING for young people to do in this city they want to take away one thing they CAN do for free just because what someone thinks they are being too loud or selling drugs? Give me a break!

Whatever happened to letting kids be kids? You really want them to get into trouble take away those basketball goals and see what kind of trouble they get into! Are we really going to have the police break up basketball games and write people tickets?

So stupid!

am going to go ahead and agree with you on this one.

While I can at least get behind the idea that young people playing in the street could pose a safety issue, there have been exactly zero kids hit by cars while playing basketball in Crittenden County. I couldn’t even find any examples on the internet in other cities. And sure, you could have some unsavory activity like loud music or possibly fights break out, but those are actual laws being broken, not “ criminal sports playing” or whatever the citation would be. Like you, I recognize the need for free activities for kids ( and adults) to take part in and this just seems like a big waste of time for a non- existent problem]
