that will speed things up. It certainly couldn’t hurt…] How do I get something in the paper?

With all the negative talk about the Marion garbage pick up I would like to say something positive. This is my opinion. Last week we had horrible weather and most of us couldn’t even get out of our homes. So if you were one of the fortunate ones that got your trash picked up you should be grateful. I feel that Marion does a great job of picking up trash. My neighborhood is picked up on Tuesday and if you have your can out there they will get it. Many times they have come to my house and gotten my trash from my can. They don’ leave overflow on the ground as I have seen West Memphis! I say Hooray to Marion Sanitation!

[Editor’s Note: “…if you have your can out there they will get it?” I didn’t expect to be so personally attacked in Text the Times, but here we are. But for real, I will agree with you that the Marion Sanitation crew almost always is on time and very thorough. I do recall one time my son cleaned out his car by just throwing all his trash directly into the bin and on trash day it happened to be very windy, so when the “one-armed bandit” turned our bin upside-down to dump it, we got a ticker-tape parade of Taco Bell wrappers, Chick-Fil-A receipts and other assorted looseleaf trash, so that was fun] Two dogs on the back road of the casino one has a harness nest on and the other one is brown and black. I tried to contact the shelter and no one’s able to pick these dogs up. I’m afraid they may get hit by the flying cars going behind the casino [Editor’s Note: I got this on Monday, so hopefully someone was able to get these pooches off the street. Just FYI, the West Memphis is also the home of the West Memphis Department of Animal Control, and you can contact them directly at (870) 732-7599 or message them on Facebook when you see this sort of thing. The shelter operates during normal business hours, but Animal Control is always on call] Anyone know what’s up with the trash they haven’t picked up here in Lake Shore 2 weeks dogs are scattering it everywhere. No answer on phones but they didn’t forget to send the bills out [Editor’s Note: I’m not 100 percent sure exactly how trash collection works in Lake Shore. I believe there’s a private contractor out there, but I couldn’t find anything online about it. I’d assume that since it’s a corporate service, they were probably even more overwhelmed and affected by the recent ice storm. Hopefully, they’ll get back on track this week. If there’s a number on your bill, call them and maybe

[Editor’s Note: Well, it really depends on what that “something” is. Is a photo of you or someone you know doing something cool? If so, just send it to this number. If it’s a press release or a flyer for an upcoming event, or a letter to the editor, or a wedding or engagement or birth announcement, you can email it to me at news@theeveningtimes.com. In fact, most anything of public interest can be emailed to me at that address. If it’s story-length, I’ll run it in the community news. If it’s just a blurb, it will likely be listed in the News Briefs. As long as we are on the subject, we changed email servers over the weekend and there was a two-day transition where I did not get any emails, so if you tried to send me something last Saturday or Sunday, there’s a good chance I did not get it, so you might want to send it again]
