most inspiring gathering that recognizes the contributions and achievements of community and technical college faculty, administrators, and staff. “Being selected to represent ASU Mid-South at NISOD for Outstanding Staff is a tremendous honor,” Miner said. “It means that what I do on a daily basis of helping other on our campus, whether a part of my job or not, has been noticed and appreciated. Although I don’t do it for that reason; I do it because I remember what it was like from starting the process as a new student to becoming an employee. Current and former employees have helped me along the way, and I want to do the same for students and employees as long as I am here.”

“I am truly honored to be selected for this recognition,” Vaughn said. “Thank you to everyone and I will continue to do my best to display and meet the mission of ASU Mid-South.”

“These phenomenal women represent the best of ASU Mid-South,” said Dr. Debra West, Chancellor of ASU Mid-South. “We, as a college community, thank them for their service and dedication. Through their hard work, they make us all look good.”

Excellence Award recipients are recognized during NISOD’s annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, May 27-30, 2023. Excellence Awards recipients receive a specially cast, pewter medallion hung on a burnt-orange ribbon. The names, titles, and colleges of all Excellence Award recipients are included in a special booklet that features congratulatory ads from many of the recipients’ colleges. In addition, presentations at the conference involving Excellence Award recipients are indicated in the Conference Program with a special icon.

“Recognizing those individuals who have contributed to student success and their colleges’ mission is something we look forward to doing each year,” said Dr. Edward J. Leach, NISOD’s Executive Director. “The extraordinary work of these men and women includes not only what they do for their students and colleagues, but what they do for the communities in which they live and work. We’re honored to be able to play a part in celebrating their achievements.”
