What are the chances we get a major industry to come here now that McClendon has been reelected and Brick is mayor of Marion? [ Editor’s Note: I can’t say that they are any better or any worse just because of those two facts but I do know that we have some rumored prospects on the hook. I can’t say due to not wanting to put out potentially false information but it’s really too good of a location and there are too many incentives for it to be much longer before we get some good news on that particular front. [ Editor’s Note: Full disclosure, we used to run a daily weather forecast in the paper, but that was before a majority of our production moved to online news, where all of the weather is already right there at your fingertips.

And there’s the impractical issue of trying to produce the newspaper and you just can’t really put out an upto- the- minute weather report in the paper, so it’s not really feasible. But since you asked and since I’ve got a little bit of a heads up about the threat of dangerous weather, I’m happy to include it here. As you can see from the scary dark red blotch that’s covering the Mid- South area, it’s definitely going to be a bumpy ride today. Like, we are in the maroon oval inside the red oval… surrounded by another maroon blob of terror. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like how it basically looks like a target. As long as we’re all here, did you know that the Dog House, the facility where the ASU basketball team plays its home games, is also a designated emergency shelter for the community. I don’t recall the exact details, but part of getting the funding for the gym was contingent that it double as a storm shelter. I don’t know if it’s ever been used for that purpose but it’s nice to know it’s there just in case]
