Suspects in custody in stolen vehicle case

A woman was hit by a semi-truck last Tuesday afternoon when a State Trooper attempted to stop a stolen Chevy Impala near mile marker 281. At 12:16 p.m., the Arkansas Department of Transportation reported an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian at the split between I-40 and I-55.
According to police, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, the vehicle came to a sudden stop on the shoulder when both the driver and passenger attempted to _ee on foot and ran toward the eastbound lanes when the passenger, a woman, was struck by a semi. She was taken to Regional One in Memphis when she was alert but her full condition was unknown.
A housekeeper working nearby directed police to the direction where found the driver, later identied as 24-year-old Dequarius Lewis, had _ed. His jacket was found and police used dogs to nd his location where he was taken into custody.
Lewis faces charges of speeding, _eeing, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. Police have of yet to identify the passenger, who will likely also face charges in the incident.
