Veterans Day Parade to feature 101-year-old WWII veteran
Community invited to events honoring those who served

This Friday, Nov. 11, the Veterans Day Parade in West Memphis is set to feature a very special guest as Grandmaster of the parade, local World War II veteran Charlie Jordan.
Mr. Jordan, who is 101 years old, served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 and held the rank of Steward’s Mate First Class. He was Honorably discharged in 1946. During his service he was awarded the Victory Medal and the American Theater Medal.
Born in Hughes in 1921, Jordan still lives at his residence on South 11th Street in West Memphis where he and his wife Georgia raised their _ve children. He is described as being “very loved and respected” within his neighborhood and everyone “keeps a watchful eye out for him since he is so active.”

Deacon Trustee, choir member and participates actively in various other ministries. It is said of Jordan that “he is an amazing inspirational christian man who loves God, his family, neighbors and his community.”
Also described as a “trusted and loyal employee,” Mr. Jordan retired from Sealy Mattress Company in 1986.
The Veterans Parade route is set to start at West Memphis Christian School on Missouri, proceed onto Broadway and end on South Avalon at around 10 a.m., followed by a special ceremony at the VFW Post 5225 building. All are encourage to come out and join in the festivities with Mr. Jordan.
