I

was wondering if Marion School District has a designated person that is required to travel to away football games to monitor the student section, and be sure that the school is well represented? I recently attended the Marion/Wynne football game and was appalled by the behavior of Marion’s student section.

A couple of individuals had megaphones and were chanting obscenities in it, which were also repeated by all of the rest of the students. After being asked numerous times to not talk like that in front of our children (who were trying to enjoy the game as well), the students blatantly continued to chant profanity. The parents and staff that were present and said nothing to these thug/punk kids should be ashamed of themselves. Marion is supposed to be a top notch school district, but this sort of behavior says they are so far from that!! [Editor’s Note: Let me first say that I’m sorry your game experience was ruined by unruly behavior. The policy for each school is different and I’m sure changes from time to time, but yes, there most definitely should be an administrator on site for every home and away game for situations just like you describe in your text. It’s not always the same person, so no, there is not a “designated” individual that is “required” to be in attendance. If the students’ were as rowdy as you say, I’m surprised this is the first I’m hearing about this (not saying it didn’t happen, just that this seems like something that would be circulating more in local social circles). I will readily admit that the Marion student section is known for its enthusiasm, so hopefully that’s all this was … just some overloaded school spirit that went a little too far. As for who was “on duty” for that particular game, I couldn’t say, but I happen to be married to a school administrator and part of her duties include going to junior high games and even at that age, kids can be a handful and you can’t be everywhere at once. It could have been that whoever was at that game was putting out a fire elsewhere at the stadium at the time. And truth be told, it could be that the administrator in charge did not see what was happening as disruptive or as offensive as you did and simply chalked it up to teenage enthusiasm. Hopefully, your next game-day experience will be less of that … and maybe even a win for the Patriots] Are politicians allowed to be human? So , Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin likes to dance and have a drink on the weekend, what an amazing story. The only concern really is that she has a friend who let her down by publishing a private moment. We complain that Politicians have no idea of what the life of the general public is like and then condemn them for enjoying themselves. Of course, these accounts would have been much more confronting if there were videos of J.F.K. and his apparent liaisons with Marilyn Monroe. It might be concerning if a member of the royal family were caught with their pants down, oh wait that was Prince Harry in 2012.

There was also John Profumo affair, who was the UK Secretary of State for War and even former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi with his bunga bunga parties, whatever they were. Let’s judge the Finnish Prime Minister on her performances in Parliament, not what she does on the weekend off duty.

[Editor’s Note: Not gonna lie … I had to hit the Google just to know what this message was even talking about, and even then, I wondered what relevance in might have to have ended up in the inbox of the editor of the Crittenden County Evening Times. But here we are.

So apparently, the prime minister of Finland was seen partying like it’s 1999 and there was come harsh criticism of her for being un-prime-minister-y or whatever. Oh, how I wish we could have such “scandals” here in the U.S., and not hearings over insurrections, illicit affairs and terrorist-funding thirdworld- country deals. Can you imagine what would happen if Joe Biden were seen dancing and drinking?

that one time. It wasn’t great. I will say, Michelle Obama had some pretty sweet moves on Sesame Street one time. Anyway, I hope Finland survives this global embarrassment]
