A recent news story told ….

A recent news story told of socks that cost $420 and a google check shows that they do look lovely but that there are MORE expensive socks available. I can also buy $2 socks at a local store, and they also look lovely. This seems to be in conflict with the recent fashionista approach of “no socks” as a high fashion choice. The real concern should be the ways that money can be used rather than spent. A $20 pair of socks should be quite comfortable and look good at the same time with the remaining $400 being used for a charity such as the Fred Hollows Foundation, a charity that restores eyesight for $20 which means that 20 more people would be able to see the lovely socks or no socks. There is so much poverty, hunger and homelessness in the world that $420 socks seem a unnecessary expense and a donation to any charity would be appreciated.

[ Editor’s Note: I will never hear about expensive clothing of any kind and not think of the “ Kanye West Hiphop T- Shirt” that was an actual plain white tshirt with no identifying label or logo that cost $ 120… and sold out immediately after going on sale.

There is literally no way anyone who saw you wearing that shirt would know what it was unless you told them… which is probably exactly the kind of thing the person who would buy such a shirt would do. Look, I get it that there are things that people buy simply because they can afford it.

And I guess there’s not anything inherently wrong with making a “ status symbol” purchase, like a sports car or a Rolex or whatever, but yeah, $ 420 for a pair of socks just screams “ desperate for attention” that, again, you’ll only get if you’re the sort of person who says, “ Hey, check out my socks. Got ‘ em for a cool $ 420. Pretty sweet, huh?” And, hey, it’s good to know I’m on the cutting edge of fashion. I’ve been rocking the “ no socks” look for years!]

*** School starts back in a few weeks and I don’t see how they are going to have classes at the new west junior high school at all. It is not finished and they can’t for sure have school in the old building. I don’t know what the deal is but they are going to have to figure something out before school starts. Where are people supposed to park?

Where are they going to have all these kids. Looks like mismanagement to me!

[ Editor’s Note: I have heard they expect to have everything ready to go by the time school starts on Aug. 22. I remember back in the day they had classes at the local churches when one of the school buildings wasn’t ready. If that’s the case here, I’m sure they will figure something out]
