Safety First!
That’s the message the West Memphis Fire Department stressed when they were giving the kids at Philadelphia Outreach Ministries’ Youth Explosion event last month (right), and that’s the message they are getting out to the community this Fourth of July: “The WMFD strongly urges our residents to keep their neighborhoods safe this year.
Be smart and leave fireworks to the professionals! Each July Fourth, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks.
Despite the dangers of fireworks, few people understand the associated risks – devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even deaths.” (see graphic below, right)
