Pundits and Polls

I've read recently from one source that people should only have one gun and that it should be in the home to protect themselves.

Well, thank God, the woman in Charleston, West Virginia who brought down the potential mass-murderer in my last article didn't think that way. She had a handgun on her, pulled it out and shot the criminal on the spot, saving others from a disaster.

Again, thank God that was not a gun-free zone.

Note, that the incident was not carried by any mass media outlets?

Didn't fit the gun-grabbers narrative, don't you see?

And with brain-dead Biden promoting violence since 2020, defunding the police, supporting BLM, Antifa and other anti-American criminal organizations, more and more people are buying guns for their protection. Small wonder.

Especially women, like the previous-mentioned one. They need an equalizer to keep from being brutalized, raped or killed by street thugs and career criminals.

So, also small wonder, a recent poll specifically about schools came out with these results, quoted by The Daily Wire.com, by

Tim Pearce, May 31:

“ Most Americans believe that having armed teachers, properly trained, would make schools a safer place rather than the opposite.

“ A new poll conducted by The Trafalgar Group in partnership with Convention of States Action ( COSA) shows that a majority of 2022 likely voters support having properly trained, armed teachers in schools. The poll was conducted in the aftermath of a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, in which 21 victims, including 19 children, died.

“… According to the data, 57.5% of respondents said that preventing properly

trained teachers from carrying firearms in schools makes schools somewhat or much more dangerous. Just 30.8% said the opposite.

“ Among all political breakdowns, arming properly trained teachers was the most popular position.

Republicans voiced the largest amount of support for armed educators, with 67.5% saying it would make schools more safe versus 19.4% saying the opposite. A plurality of Democrats agreed, with 48.2% telling pollsters that armed and trained teachers made schools less dangerous

Did you get the latter information: A majority of DEMOCRATS agreed that armed and trained teachers made schools less dangerous!

But NOT Joe Biden. No Sireeeee!

Here's his position, according to the New Press Secretary, as reported by

by

“ Biden doesn't believe in hardening schools, White House says,”

White House press secretary Karine Jean- Pierre said Tuesday that President Biden is uninterested in pursuing tighter security at schools in the aftermath of the Uvalde massacre, an option favored by former President Donald Trump.

“' I know there's been conversation about hardening schools. That is not something that he believes in,'” said Ms. Jean- Pierre at the White House briefing. “' He believes that we should be able to give teachers the resources to be able to do the job.'” “'… He supports a ban on sale of assault weapons and high- capacity magazines, and expanded background checks to keep guns out of the dangerous hands,'” said Ms. Jean-Pierre.

So there's that.

Now, I would like to move on to a different matter…that of a comment made recently by a pundit about 18-year olds and guns. While some 18-year olds may be too immature to handle them, there are some 30-,40-, and even 50-year olds I could say the same thing about.

But I don't like it when whole classes of people are lumped together and then marginalized. So, how about a look at some American Revolution heroes who were teens at the time that war broke out, and who were true patriots.

Here are just a few notables: (from The Business Insider.com)

While Andrew Jackson may have been too young to enlist when the Revolutionary War first began, when he was 13 years old, the future president of the United States served as a patriot courier in the Revolutionary War.

Deborah Sampson, 15 years old

Deborah Sampson disguised herself as a man so she could join the Massachusetts military.

During her tenure in the Patriot forces she led dangerous expeditions, dug trenches, and helped capture 15 Loyalists. She kept her true identity hidden for two years until doctors caring for her discovered she was a woman. Soon thereafter Sampson was honorably

discharged.

James Armistead, 15 years old

James Armistead was born a slave but worked as a spy under Marquis de Lafayette during the war. His important intel from General Cornwallis and Benedict Arnold led to an American victory at the Battle of Yorktown. Armistead successfully petitioned for his freedom in 1787, after the conclusion of the American Revolution.

Peter Salem, 16 years old

Peter Salem was a Massachusetts slave who was freed in order to serve in the local militia. Soon thereafter, Salem enlisted in the Continental Army under George Washington and was named a hero in the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Marquis de Lafayette, 18 years old When Lafayette learned what was going on in the newly declared United States in 1777, he traveled from France to America to join the Revolution. Not only did the French general become an invaluable ally to the US, but he also fought alongside George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Jefferson to ensure a successful and fruitful American victory. Upon his return to France, Lafayette was nicknamed the 'Hero of Two Worlds' for his valiant efforts abroad and at home.

James Monroe, 18 years old

The fifth President of the United States may have only been 18-years-old the colonies declared independence, but that didn't stop him from enlisting in the Revolutionary War.

He dropped out of college in 1776 to join the Continental Army and fought alongside George Washington and Thomas Jefferson for American independence. After the war, he studied law under Thomas Jefferson and became the last Founding Father to be elected President.

Any questions?
