fishy king. Ridiculous!

It was a nice-looking fish though… was.

*cue sad music* Well, you remember this winter when the big ice storm came and the power was out all over Marion for several days? Well, we had to abandon our home for nearly a week before the lights (and more importantly, the heat) came back on.

Not knowing how long we’d be gone but not expecting it to be too long, we made plans to just take it day-by-day as far as getting clothes and such for the next day. We were staying right around the corner at my Mom and Dad’s house, so no big deal. My daughter was even sure to remember to feed the fish, whom she named Kai, in case you were wondering.

Well the night of the second full day of being without power, we decided it might be too cold for the fish (the cats and dog, being covered in fur, were on their own). So, in the dark and cold, my daughter and I went back to the house to figure out how to best transport Kai to grandma’s

Sadly, we were too late. He had fallen asleep there in his little light-up castle.

Even a tough 15 year-old can take so much. We buried him out in the flower bed. Sad, but just so you know, she recently got a new betta for her 16th birthday (once she was ready). His name is Reggie.
