ASU Mid- South women’s team gets back on the winning track

asumidsouthsports.com The Lady Greyhounds built a 25-point halftime lead and never looked back in taking a 70-54 victory over the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians (MS) Saturday at The Dog House.

Using a dominating defense, ASU Mid-South held Itawamba to just 4 first-quarter points and only 10 in the second quarter in taking a commanding 39-14 lead at the half and were never threatened the rest of the way.

Meleanna Williams led the charge with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists while Aaliyah Lee scored 15 points and Keiana Delaney finished with 10 points and 8 assists. Lee and Delaney also pulled down 6 rebounds each with Lee also blocking 3 shots.

Jaylia Reed and Tashlee Milow scored 9 points apiece as the Lady Greyhounds shot 43.9% from the field, held the visitors to just 34.3% shooting, and won the battle of the boards 39-30 while forcing 21 turnovers.

The Lady Greyhounds (66) return to The Dog House on Saturday, December 11, at 2 p.m. for a rematch with Dyersburg State Community College (TN), a team ASU Mid-South defeated 67-61 on December 1 in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
