In 2019, the West Memphis Blue Devils and the Marion Patriots were the best two teams the tough 6A-East Conference had to offer. A year later, both programs saw struggles all season long and fell to the lower echelons of the conference.

Still, every team in 6A makes the postseason, so both teams will suit up and give it their all in the opening round of the playoff this Friday night, The Blue Devils ended their regular season with a 41-6 loss, putting West Memphis at 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the 6AEast Conference. The team is set to travel to Greenwood next Friday night for their first-round Class 6A state playoff game.

The Marion Patriots closed out their 2020 campaign with a disappointing 42-7 loss to the Golden Hurricane of Jonesboro on the road last Thursday night.

The regular season ends for Marion at 2-7, a steep drop from their playoff run in 2019. Like West Memphis, Marion will be on the road for the playoffs. The Patriots will have their hands full this Friday night as they open up the 6A postseason with a matchup against the Benton Panthers.
