Summer Food Program — Effective June 1, 2020, Bethel A.M.E. Church will serve meals for the At-Risk and Summer Feeding Program through the Arkansas Department of Human Services at the locations listed below. Meals will be provided to all children up to the age of 18, without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. The Sites listed below will serve Breakfast/lunch/supper/snack, Bethel AME Church, East Jr.

High School, Wonder Elementary, Maddux Elementary, Bragg Elementary, Richland Elementary, Housing #2 4052 S.L. Henry, Unit 45, Wedlock Life Center, Faulk & Weaver (serving only breakfast/lunch). Civil Air Patrol — Civil Air Patrol meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the ASU Aviation Technical Center, 737 Taxiway Drive, in West Memphis. Young people ages 12 and up can join the cadet program. Adults are needed to support the cadet program and emergency service operations.

Bethel AME Community Grant Program — Larry Banks, pastor of the Bethel AME Church, 2304 E. Barton Ave., was recently awarded the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant for the 2019-2020 school year by the U.S. Department of Education. Applications are now being accepted for a maximum of 100 students to participate in the program that will be held at Maddux Elementary School, 2100 E.

Barton Ave. Once the 100 positions are filled, all others will be placed on a standby list. Applications for children in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 may be picked up at Bethel AME Church or at Maddux Elementary School during back to school registration. •

West Memphis City Council — Meeting schedule: 1:30 p.m., on the first Thursday of each month; 5 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, at West Memphis City Hall, 205 S. Redding St., in West Memphis. All meetings are open to the public.

Crittenden County Health Unit — The Crittenden County Health Unit will have special extended hours every Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. These adjusted hours give the unit the opportunity to stay open later to accommodate those who are not able to come during normal business hours. Clinical services that are available include: Women, Infants & Children (WIC), nutrition counseling and support, birth control pick-ups, Depo shots, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and services, and immunizations. Family Planning Late Clinic will be the third Tuesday each month.

VFW Fish Fry — Last Friday each month at VFW Post 5225, 406 S. Avalon, West Memphis. Eat-in or carry-out.

Child and Adult Care Food Program — The 15th Street Child Care Development Center is participating in the Child and Adult Food Program. This will provide meals to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals are provided at 130 S. 14th Street in West Memphis. The program will provide breakfast, lunch and a p.m. snack.

American Legion Post 53 Fish Fry — First Friday of every month. Food served from 5 to 8 p.m. Karaoke every Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. Bingo Monday’s at 7 p.m., 150 Legion Road. 735-8803.

Arkansas State University Degree Center — Offering admission, advising, and scholarship information/assistance for students interested in attending Arkansas State University-Jonesboro on the ASU Mid-South campus.

15th Street Childcare Development Center — Announced its sponsorship of the USDA Food Program.

Meals will be available at no separate charge or at a reduced charge for National School Lunch Program and at no charge for Child and Adult Care Program.
