I am not sure who this message should be directed to but the citizens of Earle would like an update on the New Library, it’s our understanding that funds were approved approximately two years ago yet no construction or even a ground breaking ceremony if there are issues preventing the construction of the new library please bring the community up to date as to what is causing the delay. [Editor’s Note: The last news we had about the new library in Earle was back in February. I’m sure you’re aware that the four months since then have been _lled with a good deal of chaos and disruption, so if I had to guess, I’d say there have been delays in the project due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The most recent update from Mayor Sherman Smith was that the new library and city park would go hand-in-hand with the new elementary school as part of a revitalization effort in the community. The new library will be on the corner of Commerce and Main Street across from Young’s Grocery and will be built in part with a $200,000 grant from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and will be a 1,300 square foot facility. The current library is only 600

I support my local paper… I wish everyone else would… the paper is down to one day for paper edition … keep our paper try to get other to the our local paper … there is/was a lack of communication to local bank customers … especially those who had to stay in for health reasons … because of the virus [Editor’s Note: I think this might have been two separate text messages but they came in on the same number at the same time, so apologies if your message is a little muddled. As for the _rst part, I would, of course, also encourage everyone to support the newspaper. The problem is, if you’re reading this, you’re already supporting the local newspaper. We’ve got to get more people to invest in their community by taking the paper, advertising in the paper, and helping to keep local journalism alive. To your second point, there were a lot of businesses who have had to completely overhaul the way they do business in the wake of COVID-19, and banks were no exception. By now, three months into it, we’re seeing some semblance of “normal” return but there are many businesses who will likely never go back to the way things

Please do people a favor and text this. I am sitting at the Coin Laundry on Broadway. I have put so far $19.00 in three different machines and none of them work. There is no number posted anywhere in the building to get money back and no way to get in touch with the owner. I talked to several people also washing who says this happens all the time. On outside of building there is a big sign that says “all new equipment installed.” This place is ripping people off. Talk about INJUSTICE. So many people losing lots of money in these machines bc there are no signs saying machines aren’t working and no one to call to get your money back. Please help!!! [Editor’s Note: I don’t know that I can offer any help other than to run this and hope people see it. I know the frustration of being at the mercy of the laundromat, so I feel your frustration. I have used that laundromat in the past and I’ve always seen someone minding the store when I’ve gone. I wonder why there was no one at the desk when you were there? In any event, I hope you have better luck in your laundry efforts going forward …]
