Bulldod defensive star will be playing for Reddies in 2020

Earle High School senior football player Jaylon Coopwood is taking his talents to the college level.

Last Friday, Coopwood got a jump on National Signing Day by inking a letter of intent to play football for the Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.

Coopwood signed with the Reddies as a defensive tackle, but the 5’11’’, 326-lb.

senior is a multi-talented athlete. During a November showdown with Carlisle, Coach Coleman even started Coopwood at quarterback in place of Nick Mathis to give the team a long ball threat and a running threat.

Coopwood responded with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns on the night.

“Coopwood played good,” Coleman said of his player’s performanve against the Bisons. “I didn’t have anybody who could throw the ball. It’s been like that all season. One thing about him is when he throws the ball, he can throw it up to 60 yards. So he has the type of arm that can throw the ball.”
