Dr. Howard C. Smith, Sr.
Dr. Howard C. Smith Sr. was born on April 26, 1946 in Goodwin, Arkansas one of 17 children to Frank and Luella Smith.
His Christian journey began at Goodwin Church of God in Christ in Goodwin Arkansas. As a youth, he accepted his call to ministry and was saved, sanctified, baptized, and filled with the Holy Ghost. In 1972, Dr.
Smith founded Nineveh Temple Church of God in Christ (1st Nineveh/ Victory Temple). He also founded Nineveh Cathedral Church of God in Christ in West Memphis, AR. He was in the ministry for 53 years.
On August 5, 1967, Dr.
Smith married the love of his life Armelia Waller Smith. From this Union was born four children.
They have seven grandchildren. Dr. Smith received his BSE in Mathematics and Physics from Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College (UAPB), his MSE in Counseling and Administration from Arkansas State University, his MA in Civic Engineering from the University of Memphis, his Specialist in Education Administration from Jackson State University, Ph.D. Counseling/ Psychology, Summa Cum Laude from Pacific State University Dr. Smith spent 46 years in education and administration. He served, as a public- school teacher, college professor, counselor, principal and Assistant Superintendent in the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Arkansas Democratic Party, AARP & NAACP.
On Dec. 23, 2019 God called his servant home.
Dr. Smith has been promoted to glory. The funeral will be Saturday, Jan.
4, 2020, at 11 a.m., at the West Memphis Civic Auditorium 228 Polk Ave., West Memphis, AR 72301.
