Watch Arkansas vs. Texas A& M on the big screen at Marion Chamber event

ralphhardin@gmail.com While the Arkansas Razorbacks will be down in Texas for the Southwest Classic, Hogs fans will still be able to be a part of a special local gathering of Razorback rooters, with a public watch party at the county courthouse.

On Saturday Sept. 28, the Marion Chamber of Commerce will turn the courthouse square into the biggest tailgate party in the county, as they present the third annual “Hogs on the Square” tailgate and watch party.

The University of Arkansass and Texas A& M will square off at 11 a.m., but you’ll want to get out early for some tailgating fun.

Come paint the courthouse Razorback Red.

There’s free admission, all ages are welcome, tailgaters are welcome, just bring your own seating and set-up. And after the game, you can stay and watch a bonus game, an SEC clash between Alabama and Ole Miss.

Food trucks and other onsite vendors will be at the event, which will include a “Hog Pong” tournament and a kids’ play area.

“This year’s Hogs on the Square event will be a winner, no matter the outcome of the game!” promises Marion Chamber of Commerce executive director Tracy Brick. “Come on over to the Courthouse Square and bring your tailgate set-up — or pick up some fast food on the way if you’re a rebel — grab your lawn chairs, and settle in for two games on the big screen! The Razorbacks play Texas A& M at 11, and we’ll air a bonus game, Alabama vs Ole Miss afterwards.”

Brick said there’s plenty of space to set up your tents, tables, lawn chairs, etc. around the square.

“Here are a few more things you can enjoy while you’re there,” Brick says “The first ever Hogs on the Square Rib Cook-off, a great kids’ zone with a bouncy house a footballs, a Hog-Pong tournament — our version of beer pong, a Razorback fire pit raffle, event t-shirts for sale, craft and specialty vendors… We’re talking serious fun, y’all. And to top it all off, admission is free!
