Contraband drop bag found on farm outside of  East Arkansas prison

BRICKEYS, Ark. – The battle against contraband continues in the Arkansas prison system.

During this weekend the East Arkansas Regional Unit located another contraband drop, but this one was particularly interesting.

The drop was found in a farm field and it was in a garbage bag that was hit by the harvester.

Inside, there were seven cell phones with charging accessories, more than 5 pounds of tobacco, rolling papers, and 2 cans of chewing tobacco. These are typical drop items.

There were three packages of “Caviar” that really caught the unit’s attention.

You can see them circled in yellow in the picture.

Those are THC edibles that look like gummy candy. This is the first time that edibles have been included in a drop bag. Whoever left this did not consider the extensive heat which would cause the edibles to melt into puddles.

No less a presence will be the talented and captivating Karen Wolfe belting hits which have made her a crowd favorite in the Soul Blues world such as “Man Enough,” “Southern Soul Party Mood,” “A Woman Needs a Strong Man,” and others. Meanwhile, Marcus “Mookie” Cartwright will unleash his combination of incredible vocal and guitar prowess honed through his mentorship by Blues legends like Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and others.

Proceeds from the concert will go toward the Delta Rhythm & Bayous Alliance’s Freedom & Blues Exhibition currently housed at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Business Support Incubator. This exhibition traces Blues traditions on the Delta Rhythm & Bayous Highway and looks at the social forces which impacted the genre.

woman in DUI crash

JONESBORO — A Craighead County man will spend five years in prison for a 2016 crash that left a woman dead.

Dustin Lee Williams, 37, of Egypt pleaded guilty Monday to negligent homicide.

A Second Judicial Circuit Court judge sentenced him to 60 months in the Arkansas Department of Correction with an additional 60 months suspended imposition of sentence. Multiple emergency crews responded to the 2016 headon crash on Highway 91 that left Megan Holt of Cash dead.

Prosecutors say Williams was intoxicated on Nov.

16, 2016, when his Lexus ran off Highway 91 near Westside School District, overcorrected, and struck head-on a Chevy Malibu driven by Megan Holt, 26, of Cash.

Holt was killed in the crash.

In addition to prison time, the judge also ordered Williams to pay court costs and fines.
