Marion Boys defeat West Memphis 5-2 in tennis
West Memphis girls win 5-3 in season opener

By the Times Sports Staff It was opening day for the Marion Patriots tennis team, with cross-town rivals the West Memphis Blue Devils making the short trip down Highway 77 for a tennis match-up between the two squads.
On the boys side, the Patriots prevailed 5-2. In singles, it was 3-1 in favor of Marion, while in doubles the Pats’ margin of victory was 2-1.
Boys Results:
• Singles: Parker Tyler (Marion) 8-6 over Miller Kearney (West Memphis) Ryan Alam (Marion) 6-3 over Carter Henson (West Memphis) Ethan McAdoo (West Memphis) 9-8 over Ross Cherry (Marion) T.J. Talbert (Marion) 8-2 over Warren Mullen (West Memphis)
• Doubles: Miller Kearney & John Ryan Henson (West Memphis) 8-6 over James Lowery & Matthew Cash (Marion) Parker Tyler & Ryan Alam (Marion) 9-7 over John Ryan Henson & Carter Henson (West Memphis) Reid Bunn & T.J. Talbert (Marion) 8-4 over Warren Mullen & Ethan McAdoo (West Memphis) On the girls side, it was the Blue Devils getting the win over the Patriots, by a 5-3 margin. In singles the tally was 3-0 in favor of West Memphis, while the Patriots fared better in doubles action, earning 3 wins to the BLue Devils’ 2.

The Marion Patriots 2019 tennis season got off to a solid start, splitting with the West Memphis Blue Devils. The boys team (Reid Bunn, Ross Cherry, Johan Gonzalez, James Lowery, T.J. Talbert, Ryan Alam, Matthew Cash, Parker Tyler, David Murray and Devin Young) won their series 5-2, while the girls team (Brooke Beyer, Leah Henson, Harris Hale, Kelly Pedersen, Demariel Tanner, Kora Wilson and Maryn Deese) played hard but came up short by a 5-3 margin in their series with the Lady Devils.
