• Avondale Baptist Church News — Avondale Baptist Church, 1101 Balfour, in West Memphis, will be having a churchwide picnic fellowship Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will be an evening of food, fun and fellowship. Wednesday, Sept. 4, Avondale will start Wednesday evening Bible Study Classes, for people in the nursery through Adults, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

• Anniversary Program — The New Home M.B.
Church, 300 E. South St., Crawfordsville, will be having their 103rd Church Anniversary Program, Sunday, Aug. 25, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Edward Hampton along with members of his New Lehi and Macedonia M.B.. Church, Lansing, Arkansas. There will be other churches represented as well. Mistress of Ceremony will be Missionary Mauzie Furlow of I’m A Part Church, West Memphis. Sponsors will be Sisters Mary S. Hampton, Nancy Thompson, Clara Taylor and Beverly Stiggers.

• Invite to Worship — The Old St. Paul Church family invies the community to come and worship with them on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. for Sunday School followed by worship servicet at 10 a.m. Pastor Anthony is preaching the word of God. Parents are being advised that there will be no children’s church services on Sunday, Aug. 25. All youth from 7th to 12th grades are invited to youth service at 10 a.m. Sunday in the old sanctuary. Youth speaker will be Minister Darrell Anthony. Healing and deliverance service is cancelled for Sunday, Aug. 25.

• Women’s Conference 2019 — Heavenly Gates Fellowship Ministry, 2805 South Service Road, West Memphis, will be hosting their Women’s Conference, Thursday, Aug. 23 and Friday Aug. 25.
Thursdays event will begin at 7 p.m. Psalmist will be Prophetess Gloria Broome; Lecturer, Evanglist Melody Johnson and guest speaker will be Minister SierraWard Popl with Riverside M.B.Church, Memphis.
Friday’s event will begin at 3 p.m. Psalmist will be Lady Jennifer Long Fowler; Lecturer, Lady Marie Hayslett and guest speaker will be Pastor Sharonda Berdin with Divine Gateway Ministrysj.

• Bethel AME Community Grant Program — Larry Banks, pastor of the Bethel AME Church, 2304 E. Barton Ave., was recdently awarded the 21st Cntury Community Learning Center Grant for the 2019-2020 school year by the U.S. Department of Education. Applications ae now being accepted for a maxiumum of 100 students to participate in the program that will be held at Methel AME Church 2403 E. Barton Ave.
Once the 100 positions are filled, all others will be placed on a standby list.
Applications for childen in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 may be picked up at Bethel AME Church or at Maddux Elementary School. The program director is Sheri Lowe and the site coordinator is Karmen McNutt.

• Annual Choir Day —
Mt. Olive M.B. Church, 201 S. 15th St., West Memphis, will be hosting their annual Choir Day event Sunday, Aug. 25 beginning at 3 p.m. Guest choirs include: Greater St. Mark M.B. Church along with Mt. Calvary M.B. Church, Mt. Zion Church, Clarksdale and New Zion Church. Sister Helen Barber Smith is the event sponsor and Rev. Leroy Turner Sr. is the pastor. The public is invited to attend.
