It was the icing on the cake for the Marion Patriots boys basketball team.

Wait, correct that… the Marion Patriots 2019 Arkansas State 5A Champions boys basketball team.

In a special gathering earlier this week, the Patriots got their 2019 State Championship rings, a memento of an historic season for the school’s athletic program.

The win was the first boys’ team sport state title in school history. On March 7, the Marion Patriots defeated the Little Rock Hall Warriors in Hot Springs, 57-54 in an overtime thriller.

The Patriots came into that game on an 18-game winning streak, finishing the season at 25-3 and ranked number 24 in the nation by MaxPreps.

Not a bad first season for Marion head coach David Clark, who previously coached at Little Rock Hall.
