In the Mission Fields
Marion First Baptist Church is mission-minded this month, with a number of groups from First Marion heading out into the world to bring the message of Jesus Christ to all corners of the globe. Already the church has sent teams into Cuba and El Salvador. This week, a group from FBC Marion is in Hawaii, leading a Vacation Bible School for a community on the “big island.” The effort is off to a rousing start, with 60 children in attendance for the first night of VBS. “This is an important trip,” said First Marion Pastor Dr. James Nichols. “You might hear ‘Hawaii’ and think ‘that’s not a mission trip, that’s a vacation. But there are a lot of young believers there and they need mature Christian leadership to help them grow their community and their church.”
