Bake sale, youth and adult tournaments aimed at helping local cancer patient

ralphhardin@gmail.com One thing’s for sure about the players, members and staff at the J.W.

Rich Girls Club… give them a worthy cause and they will come together to support in.

And that’s just what the doctor ordered, as the club will host a special bake sale and volleyball tournament fundraiser for a local man suffering from cancer. “It’s a co-ed volleyball tournament and bake sale fundraiser for Amelia Fraley’s dad, Martin Fraley,” Girls Club board member Michelle Smith told all of the Girls Club’s Facebook followers early last week. “Come out and play some volleyball, buy some goodies or just make a donation.”

The club has held numerous similar events in the past couple of years and the community always shows up for the cause.

The Fraley Fundraiser is set for Saturday, June 22 at the J.W. Girls Club, 519 Shoppingway Blvd., in West Memhpis. The Bake Sale starts at 10 a.m. The volleyball will be divided up by age groups. The first tournament, for boys and girls ages 10 to 13 starts at 9 a.m. There will be a three-game guarantee.

The grown-up will get in on the fun as well. The ages 14-and-up volleyball tournament starts immediately following the tunior tournament. Teams will be put together via a blind draft.

Sign ups start Saturday morning, at 8:30 a.m. It’s $15 per person to play and additional donations are welcome.

“All proceeds from the tournaments and bake sale will go to the Fraley Family for Martin’s fight with cancer,” said Smith.

“Come out and bring your family and friends.”
