FCMC to host hypertension luncn-n-learn
Get the lowdown on high blood pressure
Forrest City Medical Center Hypertension: you may know it as high blood pressure. No matter what you call it, it is a deadly disease that affects almost half of the adult population in Arkansas. Arkansans who report suffering from the disease outpaced the rest of the country by 5% in 2013, and over the last five years the gap has widened to 9% (source: Americashealthrankings. org May 8, 2019).
It may sound disheartening, but you can help turn the tide and enjoy a better quality of life by managing your own blood pressure.
You can get the tools you need for managing your blood pressure at Forrest City Medical Center’s Lunch-n-Learn on Thursday, May 30. The program, “Hypertension: The Lowdown on High Blood Pressure”, will cover topics like risk factors, reducing your risk factors, and the symptoms of hypertension.
Hypertension increases the risk stroke and heart diseases like heart failure, coronary artery disease, and thickening of the heart muscle. FCMC’s free program will present information on what blood pressure is, why it is important to monitor and know your own blood pressure, and how it is possible to have high blood pressure without the presence of symptoms.
“Hypertension: The Lowdown on High Blood Pressure” will be held at 12:00 on Thursday, May 30, in Forrest City Medical Center’s In-Service Classroom. There is no charge to attend, but advance registration is required and seating is limited. A light lunch will be served to all registered attendees. To register, call (870) 2610444, or visit www.Forrest-CityMedicalCenter.com.
