The Earle Music Coterie met at the First United Methodist Church March 21. Rev. Tony Wells, president,

Eric Elms told about the life of the author, Eugene Field, followed by Sue Ann Elms reading the poem “Little Boy Blue.”

Mary Jo Staggs gave the story of the song “By The Light of the Silvery Moon.”

Jane Speed was the program leader. Dr. J. D.

Kelly of Jonesboro presented several of his piano students.

Prelude in B Flat Major from WTC Book 1, S. 866 by J. S. Bach presented by Kevin Zheng, Fantasy in d minor, K. 397 by W. A.

Mozart presented by Yibing Hu and “Echo” from French Overture by J. S.

Bach and Scherzo in b flat minor, Op. 31 by F. Chopin presented by Alex Guo.

Co-hosts were Janis Lancaster and Mary Jo Staggs.

Other members present were Elleene Holloway, Laura Pritchard, Anga Turner, Dot McKinney from Earle, Donna Hooker and Sinthey Catherine Breyel of Lewisville, Texas.

Sue Ann Elms and Eric Elms of Memphis hosted a barbeque luncheon at Sue Ann Elms home March 23 to honor family members who had March birthdays including Kevin Elms of Russellville, Karli Potratz of Conway, Sinthey Catherine Breyel of Lewisville, Texas and Sue Ann’s cat Bridgett, who turned 18.

Others present were Kathryn Smith of Cabot, Sydney Kathryn Gangluff, Staci and Lynn Fitzgerald and son Mason and Elizabeth Potratz of North Little Rock, Grady and Becky Gennings and Corey Lewis of Memphis and Mason Goheen of Conway.

The Happy Hour Club met at the First United Methodist Church April 1 where they enjoyed a potluck luncheon.

Becky Knapp is president. The tables were covered with green cloths and decorated for Easter with jonquils, Easter eggs and other flowers.

Rev. Tony Wells gave the Easter devotional. He read “Just Checking In Today,” “Five Little Easter Eggs” and “There Is a Green Hill Far Away.” The group sang “I Am Thine O Lord.”

Others present were Vickey Wells, Joanna McLamore, Martha Booker, Dot McKinney, Minnie Mc-Cain, Sue Dorman, Doris Gately, J. W. Ellis, Dean Ryan, Jimmie Barham, Johnny Jenkins, Sue Ann Elms and Laura Pritchard.

Anja Turner, Rick Turner, Caleb Turner, Ty Edgerton, Adria Roberts, Mike and Susie Root, Tanya Pate, Vickey and Rev. Tony Wells, the 39er’s from the Earle Baptist Church and guests had dinner at Margaritas in West Memphis recently.

Rev. Wells is the pastor.

Friends and Family day will be observed at the Earle Baptist Church May 19 with a potluck luncheon following the morning worship service.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served.

The gym will be open for teens and youth following the luncheon.

A city wide Easter sunrise service will be held at the Earle Baptist Church sanctuary Sunday, April 21, at 7 a.m.

A time of fellowship will be held following the service. Everone is invited to attend.

Rev. Tony Wells, pastor, will be in charge of the special service.

Comings & Goings

Janie Lancaster and Louis Lancaster were in Jonesboro last Thursday where they visited in the home of Jan and Reza Yosefi.

Kay and Richard Rogers spent the weekend in Hardy recently.

Col. James Turner of Colorado Springs, Colorado visited in the home of Sue Ann Elms March 22.
