The deadline to file for candidacy for all municipal offices in Crittenden County was Friday, Aug. 17, at noon. With all applications in the Crittenden County Clerk’s office tallied, one of the most anticipated races this fall, the West Memphis mayor’s race, will be a five-way contest between five local leaders who will be vying for votes to fill the seat being vacated by longtime Mayor Bill Johnson. Officially filing to run were (left-to-right, in alphabetical order): City Councilman Wayne Croom, West Memphis businessman Fred Leonard, City Councilman Marco McClendon, Quorum Court Justice and City Parks Director Lorenzo Parker, and City Councilwoman Ramona Taylor.
