Taste of the Town, a major fundraiser for Main Street West Memphis, returns Tuesday, Aug. 21. Sponsored once again by signature sponsor Evolve Bank & Trust and hosted by Southland Park Gaming & Racing, Taste of the Town is an opportunity to sample culinary delights from local restaurants, caterers and chefs. The event will also feature live music and more.

This is the 16th year for Taste of the Town. And as in years past tasters will rank the delicious offerings by how well their taste buds respond and champions will be crowned.

Awards will be given to Best Appetizer, Best Entrée, Best Dessert, and Best Booth. Tickets are $35 per person in advance or $40 at the door. A table of 10 may be purchased for $300.

“This event almost matches our grant money from the State through the real estate tax,” said Main Street director Deborah Abernathy “It’s a third of our funds. Proceeds from Taste of the Town enable our program to maintain daily operations, provide funds improvements and offer training and resource workshops to support the businesses in our Broadway District and beyond.”

Taste of the Town has become a very popular event that locals look forward to each year.

‘We get close to 400 people,” Abernathy said.

“We’ll use the proceeds for a major project in the Main Street District.”

This year’s sponsors include Flash Market, JR& K Printing, the Landers Firm, Quality Flooring, and Eat Drink & ReMarry Taste of the Town will be from 6 to 9 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 21. Call or visit Deborah Abernathy, Executive Director of Main Street West Memphis at (870) 735-8814 for tickets to Taste of the Town, or contact the West Memphis Chamber at (870) 7351134.
