Polls open 7: 30 a. m. to 7: 30 p. m. today for primary, school, and judicial elections

www.theeveningtimes.com Today in Crittenden County and across the state, voters will head to the polls to cast their ballots for a number of local, county and statewide races. Voting hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Hopefuls and their supporters will gather tonight for the vote tally, which will occur at the Eugene Woods Civic Center in West Memphis following the closing of the polls.

For the Preferential Primary Election, the following races will be on the Democratic ballot:

Governor for the State of Arkansas

Jared K Henderson, Democratic Leticia Sanders, Democratic ***

State Senate District 24

Mayor Dorothy A. Cooper, Democrat Senator Keith M. Ingram, Democrat ***

School District Tax Levy

Marion school district tax levy of 40.7 mills this represents no change from the previous year: to submit the question of voting a total school tax rate of 40.7 mills on the dollar of the assessed value of taxable property located in the Marion School District.

The total proposed school tax levy of 40.7 mills includes 25.00 mills specifically voted for general maintenance and operation, and 15.7 mills for debt service and previously voted as a continuing debt service tax pledged from the retirement of existing bonded indebtedness. The surplus revenues produced each year by debt service millage may be used by the district for other school purposes.

*** Those in Zone 2 will have unopposed candidate John Eddie Minton for School Board.

*** And those resifing in the West Memphis School District will vote on the following:

School District Tax Levy

This represents no change from the previous year. the total tax levy proposed above includes 27 mills for maintenance and operations of schools, 0 mills for dedicated maintenance and operation millage (capital outlay/current expenditures), and 2 mills for debt service previously voted as a continuing debt service tax pledge for the retirement of existing bonded indebtedness. the West Memphis School District may use surplus revenues produced each year by debt service millage for other purposes.

*** Those in Zone 1 will have unopposed candidate Eddie West for School Board.
