Mayor for the Day

The West Memphis Chamber of Commerce’s Junior Leadership class paid a visit to West Memphis City Hall last week as part of the civics and government portion of the program. Chelsea Arnold took mayor Bill Johnson’s seat to adjourn the first city council meeting in May. The Wonder Junior High ninthgrader won an election among her peers and was named Mayor for the Day, promising to draw people into the city to live and visit, address poverty and crime rates, and increase city council interaction with the community.
