Katherine Cannon

Katherine Cannon, 84, of West Memphis, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, in her home. Visitation Friday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Anthony Funeral Home South Chapel. Services Saturday, Feb. 6, 12 noon in Mt. Olive M. B. Church, West Memphis with burial in Paradise Garden Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Early Stewart of West Memphis and Marilyn Taylor of Memphis; four sons, Odell Cannon, Lonenail Cannon, Freddie Cannon and Don Lee Cannon of West Memphis; two sisters, Charlean Maxwell of Memphis and Emma Jean Herron of West Memphis; one brother, Gentle Herron of West Memphis; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Flora L. Horton

Flora L. Horton, 67, of Hughes, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, in Forrest City Medical Center. Visitation Friday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Anthony-West Memphis Funeral Home North Chapel and Saturday, Feb. 6, from 12 to 1 p.m. in New Bethel Church of God in Christ at Hughes. Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with burial in Marion Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Leon Horton of Hughes; three daughters, Barbara Jean Robinson, LaShundra Brown of Helena, Arkansas and Teresa Smith of Marianna, Arkansas; three sons, John Kelly, III, Calvin Brown of Helena, Arkansas and Steven D. Brown of Little Rock; one sister, Rosemary Johnson of Hughes; one brother, Charles Gilliam of Syracuse, New York; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Dorris Thompson Rust

OBITUARIESFamily and friends were saddened to learn of the passing of Dorris Thompson Rust, beloved wife and mother who died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at age 92, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mrs. Rust was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Wellborn, Florida. She graduated high school in Lake City, Florida, in 1941, and entered nursing school at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from nursing school in 1945. Mrs. Rust entered the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. She was stationed at the 98th General Hospital in Munich, Germany for fifteen months as part of the Army of Occupation at the close of World War II. She met and married Rev. A. Hubert Rust in 1949. Mrs. Rust’s husband served fourpastorates in Live Oak, Florida, Cairo, Georgia, West Memphis and East Minster Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mrs. Rust is survived by two sons, Arthur H. Rust (Elizabeth) of West Memphis and Williams (Bill) T. Rust of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is survived by five grandchildren, Amy Rust Baker of Memphis, Adam Rust, Blake Rust, Claire Rust Zachary and Dana Rust Busie all of Knoxville. She also leaves six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rust was buried at the Spring Place Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Knoxville with full military honors. Ronny T. Smith

Ronny T. Smith, of Earle, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Earle. Service will be Saturday, Feb. 6 at Mt. Pilgrim Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Paradise Garden Cemetery in Edmondson.
