Dorothy (Harris) Atkins
Dorothy Atkins, 82, of Joliet, Illinois, formerly of Blytheville, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a nurse in Joliet, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Atkins; sisters, Pecola Myers, Jessie Myers and Ellie Harris; brothers, Clarence Harris, James Harris, Emmitt Harris and Leonard Harris. She is survived by her daughter, Mae Frances Adam (Henry); and her son, Dennis Atkins, Jr. (Linda); a sister, Dillie (Harris) Rodgers of West Memphis; two brothers, Author Harris (Garline) of West Memphis and O. C. Harris of Joliet, Illinois; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
William “Bill” E. DeVazier
After a brief illness, “Bill” DeVazier of Forrest City, Arkansas passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at the age of 81. He was born Oct. 11, 1934 in Caldwell, Arkansas to James Alvin and Mabel Schmitz DeVazier. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. A dedicated friend, mentor, golf buddy and comforter too many. He served in the Air Force from 1952-1956, and continued serving from 1956-1969 in the Air Force Reserves. He was employed with Nat Billing Packing Company (King Cotton) from 19641984. After retiring he helped his son Bill Jr. with his business; DeVasier Distributing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lou DeVazier; parents, James and Mabel DeVazier; and one brother, Jim DeVazier. Bill is survived by two sons, “Bill” DeVazier, Jr. and wife Karen of Marion and “Jim” DeVazier and wife Donna of Caldwell; two daughters, Bonnie Snell and husband Kevin of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Donna Rogers and husband Jim of Bentonville; one brother, David DeVazier and wife Geneva of Clarksville; two sisters, Francis Anderson of Wynne and Diane Thomason of Forrest City; 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a very special friend, Jayne Adams of Lake Village; and his beloved dog, Trouble. Funeral services for Mr. DeVazier will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, at the Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home with interment following in Lindsey Cemetery in Forrest City. Willie M. Wade Miller
Willie M. Wade Miller 95, of West Memphis, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 in Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation Friday, Jan. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Old St. Paul M. B. Church. Services Saturday, Jan. 30, 3 p.m. in the church with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial on Monday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m. in Paradise Garden Cemetery. Anthony Funeral Home South in charge of services. She is survived by two daughters, Alberta Jackson of West Memphis and Lula Mae Brown of Memphis; one sister, Mae Jewel Anderson of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
