Christ Outreach Church hopes to live up to new name

The new year has brought new changes to the Church at 1015 Balfour in West Memphis. The current participating congregation voted to change the name to Christ Outreach Church and become independent and disassociate from the Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
The change came about after months of prayer by all members to follow the guidance of God's Holy Spirit in seeking to better serve the mission Christ gave all Christians to 'make disciples of all men.'
The name was chosen because the members have a large outreach in the local community. They support the 8th Street Mission for Jesus Christ, Hope House Ministries, food for local hospice patients, speciality items for some cancer patients a local nursing home with weekly bingo games and Christmas gifts for all residents.
The outreach also reaches across the oceans. A young boy in India is supported by the Church women's group (Women of Faith.) They have raised over $10,000 in the last 18 months to place a water well in a sub-Saharan country in Africa. The well will be placed and administered by “The Water Project,” a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization.
